Halimah Ahmed was a young lady, whose immeasurable love for life, the love and consideration for all those around her, and even those far and wide suffering throughout the world, cannot be summed up in just a few words in a website.
It was this love that led her to begin studying International Relations at Nottingham Trent University. Her ambition and goals were simply to work with third world countries, helping the impoverished, the poor and needy. She was beautiful young lady, filled with a humility and modesty about her talents way beyond her years. A young lady who had her whole life ahead of her. For those of us who have had the good fortune of spending time with her, the memory of her infectious laughter, of her devotion to her family and that perpetually smiling face will remain imprinted on our memories forever.Tragically on Monday 26 November 2007 Halimah was murdered.
The Halimah Trust has been created by her younger brother Faizaan and her parents, Ash and Zareen.
The purpose of The Halimah Trust is to attempt to fulfill the work that Halimah set out to do herself. To raise funds so that projects and charity work can be supported in areas of greatest need throughout the world. Every project or initiative undertaken will be in Halimah's name, thus ensuring Halimah's memory and legacy continues.
For the few years Halimah spent with us, she taught us precious lessons about our duty to ourselves and to our fellow human beings; of the importance of being selfless in our dealings with the world, and of the happiness found and radiated in something as inexpensive as a smile. However they were lessons that Halimah taught everyone without any awareness nor intention that she was teaching us, but simply by being herself; a living example of all the qualities and attributes that we now hold dear.
